The review is a little long winded. Skip to bottom for just the pros and cons. Or, keep reading to waste 10 minutes of your life. Over the past 5 years, I was using a 58 “Panasonic plasma TV. Not a bad TV, but not the best either. It is only 1080i, it got hot pretty quickly (which made room warm and the air condition kick in too often), and the size is odd (I looked at the recreation center should fit a 60 “TV, but TV is still not fit.). I felt an upgrade was in order. I’ll admit, shopping for a TV is pretty fun. Much work though. The research is overwhelming sometimes. Websites on websites, magazines, books, the input of other people, salesmen trying to sell you different things depending on which store you visited, etc. I have narrowed it to one of many HDTVs by Sony or a Samsung C or D series. After narrowing it down to these 2 brands, it’s a little easier. I went to about 4 different Electronics Fry and 7 different Best buy to check it in different situations. After that, it comes down to the UN55D8000 (boy, have I memorize numbers). To make the decision easier, I was looking at Amazon, and to my amazement, they are in it for 0 less that others, including free shipping. Quality! With free shipping, usually takes a little longer. I would say, from the time the order is placed, until I got to the door, it took about 1.5 weeks. It comes delivered from Home Direct, USA and has no issues with delivery. They’re going to set up TV, but I told them not to, because my entertainment center does not come in yet. I opened the box, put the TV on a soft cloth (our comforter bed) and install the stand. Eight Screws, piece of cake. I connected Directv receiver and a PS3. There are some settings that you set in the beginning when the TV turns on. Takes about 2 minutes, literally. Then fun begins! Going from 1080i to 1080p is a big difference! I had a DVR recording of Chuck and it looked almost live. I also watched some regular programming satellites and even non-HD channels look amazing. After wiping the drool off the floor, I want to see the 3D part of the TV. I pop the free copy of Shrek 3 on PS3, put on glasses and waited to be amazed. Aside from the wonderful colors, it looked exactly like the 2D! Wth? Then, I remember reading in an area that PS3 is basically playing a 3D movie, BUT an upgrade. I waited about 30 minutes for the upgrade to finish. After that, load up dvd again, and had a funky 3D movie images. Hey wait, I have 3D glasses on, how come I can see that. Oh, oops. Batteries need to be installed on the glass. Finally! The 3D image is awe-inspiring! Seriously, watching TV in 3D is amazing. I can not wait ’til there’s more media in 3D. As it does now, the only true 3D films are either documentaries or cartoons, with the exception of some regular movies (ie resident evil, Step Up 3, etc.) I just set it last night, so I can give you a whole lot more information. But, even if I had more time, I do not think I will give you detailed specs that you may be looking for. I’m not an expert in home theater. I was playing on TV for a week, the picture of a color accuracy was good until I notice a white halo on the left and right side of the TV. After the reading of other users and reviews expert, it seems the screen uniformity problems are persistent. I chat with Samsung representatives and this is what they said to me: Please wait for a Samsung Agent to respond. Dennis: Hi, thanks for contacting Samsung tech support. How can I help you today? I try and let you know, although I am considering returning it gave it a very pricey TV … UPDATE: This is an update on the troubleshooting suggested by Samsung the uniformity of the screen … I do not see the improvement of the material using the setting suggested Samsung representative, and honestly did not think it will make any difference (or at least I do not understand why you would be better only temporarily changing settings). I could wait another week but did not have much time to wait before having to return my window … So finally I decided to return it because the white halo will not go away and TV is very expensive in this kind of problem … If this TV is 00 or less, I would keep it for sure. To be very balanced in my review, still think the color is excellent and the exterior design of the TV is the best ever saw, but it seems this excellent exterior design is one that the creation of screen uniformity due to the thin bezel … I also notice two additional minor issue with it on TV, motion blur issues with fast speed and the scene of the remote control range which is relatively short (8 feet or so). So I’m switching to a recently announced Samsung PND8000 that should be the top rated plasma … same interface and remote control than the UND8000, I will write a review when I got a chance to play it …

I would like to give this TV a glowing review, after all, this is some of the latest LED technology, trends and style settings. After a week this TV, I’m more than satisfied with that ‘Experience Samsung. Let me get this off my chest first. Did you ever go to an event, like a county fair, early, when all rides and attractions are open? you excited because it looks much fun, but it’s just a bit too early for the full experience. Well, that’s the way I think about it on TV. First of all, the 3d glasses should ship this TV is not in the box . Instead, you can mail a voucher, or go online to order (which do). After a week and no response, I called to find out why the delay. I was told to read the fine print the voucher, said there was a 10-12 week wait for the glasses. not good. Secondly, I found an issue on the remote control unit, which is not a fun thing to have in your hand. It kind of roly-poly, with two sides. One side is a QWERTY keyboard for text entry, and a touch-sensitive pointer. I think that the up, down, right, left controls will not work properly on my unit, and called support to this report. They seemed very interested in something and they told me call back in 45 minutes (after they set up a test unit) for more information. There was no call back . Reviewer Another mentioned the difficulty in pairing the remote with TV, via Bluetooth. I also found it a hassle and not always easy to do. Samsung has incorporated a feature called Smart Hub their ‘Smart TV’. It is a portal with Netflix, Vimeo, YouTube, Facebook, Pandora, a web browser, and some games and applications that are either free or paid for. The features are nice and forward I look forward to seeing it develop. You can register your TV and create an account, similar to an Apple ID, before you can either buy the app. I think you can do it from TV, but You may not need to go online to do it. No big deal, but it is confusing. The Samsung website is not ready for prime time either. The discussion board is not yet running. A nice thing is the Live Help, which works very well. However, I was unable to get the level of help I need. Okay, enough of grievances. It is a good TV. It is too light, is a narrow profile and includes a nice, chrome-plated taxis lets you turn the TV about 30 degrees in either direction. One big factor for me is the thin bezel, which allowed me to fit the a 46 “set on my 43″ wide cabinet. The TV has lots of input, including some strange Connectors that allow you to connect the component and composite video. I have a non-HDMI DVD uses connectors parts, and worked well. The setup of the TV is not difficult if you have some experience with hookups, and I was able to get all the parts and my receiver working in short order. As I mentioned above, I’m not a big fan of the shape of the remote, and I’m trying to duplicate most of the functionality on my Harmony universal remote. One thing I did was hook up my TV my iMac to display the pictures in my photo club. I did not rely on the quality better than my 27 “iMac, but it is FAR better. Color is most natural to Movie mode, Warm 1 setting. Sharpness is mysterious. I saw no obtrusive artifacts on the screen and are pleased as punch to jaw-dropping quality of my images in the picture (and therefore the club members). The TV is connected to our Uverse system, and the HD quality is superb. I’m no measurement or calibration use, but I have a. photography fine eye for color balance, contrast, and sharpness are excellent the only thing I need to get a handle on is the ‘Film mode’, which can be watching the Modern Family a unique experience; It almost makes some programs look like they are videotaped as a soap opera. From HD picture is just beautiful. I raise the “Sharpness” from 70 to about 90, but otherwise left it to ‘AUTO’. I thought the screen might be a little too big for my computer but I was completely wrong …. This is just great! I do not have a HDMI connectors for the PC, only the RGB, but it’s still just outstanding. Hook-up is something that simply connecting plugs. sound is better than good, but not excellent. I like it and it seems some legitimate “surround sound” quality. I was going to give it 4 stars because the non-HD channels only good, and acceptable, but, more expect it, I understand they are actually pretty good. Thus, it warrants 5 star. saw a number of HDTVs, especially in the showrooms, and this one is somewhat better than those. It really is an amazing picture in HD and I am very pleased with purchase. UPDATE 09/07/2011: After tinkering with the set for a month or more, I was able to improve the sound too ….. and it’s pretty good start. A few tips: Under “Menu”, then. “Audio:, make sure the Clear Voice II: IN 3 are also using my” Music “mode, with 82 treble and bass 70 changes it gives me a really nice sound. In the picture, it has also improved although it is surprisingly new. I went to the “Advanced” and you can mess with the categories in fine what suits you. I wanted a cheap TV for the bedroom and the LG 450 is an excellent choice, picture quality is very good for this price. I do not need 120Hz so I saved by 0 buying 60Hz models. All LG TV has specializes ISF settings so you can it professionally calibrated or do it yourself, even if it has a built-in blue filter. The ATSC tuner is too strong because I get all local OTA stations with an internal antenna. Model is not internet enabled so you need a set top box to get Netflix, etc. A word of caution though: when I got it home and calibrated image still does not look great, it takes 12 hours looking for the display to “break-in”. After watching TV for a few days now the picture is noticeably improved. As with all TV sound is not great but it has bass and treble controls. The USB port supports: JPG, MP3, MPG, WMV, MP4. After a week of use, very I’m very pleased with my purchase. The picture quality is fantastic. Every aspect of the picture can be customized, how hot picture, brightness, gamma exposure, etc. Let me say, out of the box the picture is excellent, the choice is more for if you are very particular . The sound quality is adequate. Not the absolute best, but it is a solid TV. Bravia My father sound quality a lot worse so I am grateful that this setup is good. As far as features are concerned, it has all the criteria (sleep timer, auto-on/off, etc.). It is missing picture-in-picture but it seems almost irrelevant for the size of the TV. I am thoroughly impressed with the number of input and outputs to the TV. 3 HDMI ports, 2 regular RCA (red, white, yellow) input, and the cord of the PC. The PC input cord even has a headphone audio input! Making use of my long cord converter easy and free. As a note, I use the TV to my PS3 and PC, and both look and sound fantastic. I am very pleased that this purchase and recommend it to anyone. |

*UPDATE 11-10-11* Apparently the design and sale of this mount has changed since my original review. It’s now easier to install, and comes with an HDMI cable and level. Otherwise, most of my review still stands. I was planning to make my own TV mount because all the affordable ones were so cheaply made. That was until I stumbled on this one for . Wow, was I surprised when it arrived! Very nicely double-boxed and packaged extremely well. Then the construction is quality all the way, right down to the chrome-plated nuts, screws and bushings. This mount was manufactured and boxed as if it were a high-dollar item. It only took about 15 minutes to have my 37″ LG firmly hanging on the wall. Oh, and I did it all by myself. I can’t comment on the mount-to-TV screws because my LG already provided them. And I did use my own 5/16″ flat washers on 2 of the lag screws since none were included, but that’s just my preference. I highly recommend this mount, I would have been happy to pay double for such quality. Now, as usual, many of the reviews here are misleading: *Dismiss all reviews that talk about adjacent studs, or difficulties getting screws to grab at an angle. This thing BOLTS TO A SINGLE WALL STUD VERY EASILY! Just like what’s shown on the instruction sheet, you simply screw 3 of the lag screws down the center of the mount. That’s all that’s needed, the other holes are just a bonus for more complicated setups. DO NOT PUT 6 OR 7 LAGS INTO A STUD! You will probably shred or weaken it. Crash goes your TV while ripping a chunk of 2×4 through your drywall. *Dismiss the reviews that mention short lag screws. They are 2″, that’s a depth of almost 1 1/2″ into the stud after going through 1/2″ drywall and the mount. If you drilled roughly 3/16″ to 1/4″ diameter pilot holes and didn’t over-tighten your lags, it should be fine. I’ve mounted mine twice now, using the same (provided) lags. *I have no idea where this review came from that complains about an adjustment knob getting in the way. My mount doesn’t have any kind of knob on it whatsoever, perhaps they are commenting on a different model. There’s a tilt adjustment, but it uses a wrench and doesn’t protrude anywhere. The ONLY BAD PART I’VE FOUND is that cheap stamped sheet-metal wrench to tighten the tilt mechanism. No problem, I just used my own 13mm wrench instead. *Yes, the mount can be somewhat stiff. Like another reviewer stated, just lubricate it. I used a few drops of 3-In-1 Oil in the joints. *And bad reviews from people who didn’t research or check to see if their TV or monitor is VESA compliant. If you look at the pictures on Amazon you’ll see the center screw hole is a “keyhole”. 1. Hold the mount to the wall and mark the 3 hole locations on the wall. On the center keyhole you want to only mark the narrow slot at the top. 2. Drill (3) 3/16″ holes. 3. Install center screw into the stud, but leave a small gap between the head and the drywall, you can even use the mount to test whether the slot in the “keyhole” passes behind the head. 4. Lay your TV face-down on a safe place like a mattress or a table with a comforter over it. Place the mount over the back of the TV and install screws. 5. Position the mount so the wall mounting plate is reasonably close to the TV and as close to center as possible, and simply hang it on the wall to the center lag screw through the keyhole. That should help with the weight while you screw the top lag in, then the bottom. Don’t tighten anything completely until all 3 screws are in, then make sure it’s level or plumb. That’s it. This is an inexpensive, very well built product that solves a simple problem. I’ll be ordering more for my PC monitors and future customers ASAP.

This wall mount is great. It is constructed very well and was easy to install. It looks clean and discreet on the wall and provides virtually 180 degree swivel for my 32 inch TV. It came with all needed hardware to mount to the wall including heavy duty wall anchors for the wall screws that did not hit a wall stud. The only complication was that I had to get the correct bolts for mounting the TV to the mount itself (the product did come with two different size bolts for this purpose but neither was the right size to mount the TV to the bracket). I found the correct bolts very easily at my local hardware store. After hanging the TV (32 inch BestBuy Insignia – Approx 30 lb. with mounting holes 200 X 200) I am very confident my TV is secure and safe. In addition, the product is very well priced. Local stores wanted 0-0 for similar mounts. WOW!

I stayed away from plasma because of me the picture quality of LCD is much crisper and I stayed away from lead because for the same size LCD I can get a larger screen. Note: The TV room is lying 11 ‘by 15′ and it sits 8 ‘away from the couch. The size is just right for the room. Initial Setup Setup is very easy and I was up and running within minutes of taking the TV box. I will install the included stand and then set a few options and the date once unit is powered on. The base of the taxi is made of plastic but is connected to the TV with a metal bracket. That being said, when we first set the TV to the console wobbled and I was concerned at first, but after a few days, I had forgotten to start it wobbled, so it is a non-issue. The unit itself is beautiful in a black plastic frame with a glossy finish. It should be mentioned that the TV monitor itself sits too low in the taxi, once installed, there is a 1.5 “clearance from any TV is sitting at the bottom of the monitor itself, there is no way to adjust the height. Remote Control The remote control is standard, nothing fancy. I like the over-sized volume and channel buttons, very easy to find without looking at the remote. Even watching the non-1080p video is great, 120hz just makes everything smooth. I also my Roku connected via HDMI and streaming HD content is excellent, the only downside to HD when you watch non-HD content, it is very noticeable, but very watchable on TV this. Games Game preset state and the TV is optimized for playing, however, I found that I prefer to play games on my Custom preset. I played FF XIII and uncharted 2 and the quality is excellent. My guess is that the “Optimize for playing” is fundamental for FPS game, where every millisecond as … But that’s just my guess. A frequent complaint I was reading about 120hz unit that looks like a soap opera. I confirm this first impression, but you get accustomed to it and I really like it now. There is a selection of images Advanced Motion Picture Pro 4 can be set to Off, weak or strong. I like it, so I’ll leave it at Strong. Viera Tools The remote control is dedicated Viera Tools button and when pressed, it shows you 5 choices: Viera Link, Slideshow, Viera Image Viewer, Game Mode and Eco. Here are my thoughts on the options … 1. Viera Link: Because I do not own any compatible products, do not have any feedback on this tool. I guess it’s useless to me. 2. Slideshow: The unit has an SD card slot, so you can load pictuers and run a slideshow. You can set the slideshow soundtrack to one of 5 music tracks built-in TV. Other slideshow options you can set transition effects (11 types, including collage), the effect of the picture (sepia and gray scale) and display interval. Display interval is the speed of the slideshow, it is set to Fast, Normal, Slow, really slow and Short. Setting this option to Short MP 9 is moving pictures on my SD card every 8 9 seconds, which seems good performance for a TV. 3. Viera Image Viewer: This preview of the pictures on the SD card, which is pretty fast. You can sort by month, date or folder and then run a slide show based on the type. Steer. 4. Game Mode: You can either select the game or Standard. Choosing only sets a preset Game Game. Unless it is something more then I am not aware that, then it seems useless. 5. Pros: Beautiful colors Cons: Optical audio out only. Other thoughts: Motion Pro 4: I think works well. You can set it to strong, weak or off. In the strong setting, yes, a few moments in the film look video …. It’s not that it is acceptable, it is more like it was distracting at first because I keep noticing it. I turned it on strong for the Amazing Race the other nite and it worked well all the action and camera cuts. For general viewing, I settled on the low setting which is perfect for me. Power Consumption: found by using a watt meter that the backlight is the main variable in the use of more or less power. Power consumption can be easily tuned down to as little as 50 or 60 watts …. and looks pretty good a setting that uses 80 watts advertised ….. However, my favorite settings in the deepest blacks have pumped up the backlight and uses about 135 watts. I compromised at 80 or 100 watt setting and pump it when watching a movie or show fav. A.I. Enriches black area without affecting the brightness of the overall picture of the picture: ….. I think it works well and I’ll leave it to ….. does not seem to affect the power consumption C.A.T.S. adjusts for ambient light …. is not much during the day but at night, significantly reduces the light and I do not like them so I’ll leave it off ….. save some energy. Eco mode: At Viera with …. standard ….- looks better saved is brighter but saves energy. There are other settings to play. I wasn’t even in the market for a 3D TV, but when my Sony HDTV blew yet another bulb, I decided it was time for something new. Initially, I planned on getting one of the new Sharp 60″ Quattron models, and headed to a nearby big box store to check out the selection. Picture quality was most important to me, where I was willing to accept a plasma if it blew me away, but I was definitely siding towards LCD or LED. I wasn’t too shocked to find that while plasmas were nice, they weren’t “that” nice, and settled in to the Sharp. On my way out, I thought I’d check a couple of the 3D displays, just to be 100% sure I wasn’t making a purchase I’d regret as soon as 3D content became more widespread. I looked at a couple of Panasonic models with active shutter glasses, and found that the 3D looked acceptable, but the glasses weren’t comfortable on my head or to my eyes. A DirecTV rep all but insisted that I look at a high-end Samsung model connected to a DirecTV receiver, and I immediately noticed that getting the thing to display 3D apparently required messing with the DirecTV remote, the Samsung remote, and continually re-syncing the active glasses. “No, thanks.” I thought. Then I noticed an unloved LG display, with a bucket (yes, an actual bucket) of scratched passive glasses. No way was this going to look good, but it wasn’t like I didn’t have a few minutes to spare. I was absolutely blown away. By far, the best 3D experience I’ve seen. Standing about six feet from the screen, there was a scene from an IMAX documentary where a fish seriously looked like it came out about halfway between where I was standing, and where the TV was. And I could see parasitic fish on the nose of that fish, moving around. It was incredible, clear, and I knew it had to be pretty expensive. Much to my surprise, it was in the same league as the Panasonic models. I had to have it. Doing more research online, I saw that Amazon’s price was even better (better, in fact, than a national warehouse club sells the non-3D version of this TV for). I ordered on a Monday, and scheduled my (free) shipping for Thursday afternoon. The delivery people came 15 minutes from the start of my four-hour delivery window, with no hassle at all. Out of the box, the picture quality on this TV is pretty awesome. Better than I remembered it being in the store, for sure. But, I did notice that motion seemed really… weird. I wasn’t sure if it was my satellite receiver, or the TV, but things just didn’t seem to move naturally. After spending some time adjusting the dejudder and deblur settings, I was able to make the motion normal. But then, I figured, I might as well calibrate everything. Using a combination of the calibration feature on the Life Blu-Ray and recommended settings on various forums, I was able to achieve an absolutely stunning picture. Seriously, this thing looks like it cost hundreds upon hundreds more when it’s calibrated. 1080i / 1080p content looked absolutely brilliant. SDTV, on the other hand, isn’t the best I’ve seen. It’s certainly acceptable, and arguably on the better side of what’s commonly found on LCD / LED models, but I’d probably consider getting something different if most of your viewing is going to be sub-DVD quality content. Then it was time to break out the 3D. I snagged a copy of Tron: Legacy (Four-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy) and spent most of the movie sitting with a dumb smile on my face. The picture quality and depth were outstanding. Don’t fall for the “active / passive” hype. Watching 3D content with the LG’s passive glasses is certain to please anybody who can see. And going back to my memory of the Samsung set, when the LG detects 3D, a box pops up that tells you to put your glasses on. That’s it. No messing around endlessly with modes to get it working. I then decided to play with the 2D-to-3D function on some HD channels and standard Blu-Ray discs, and was actually pretty surprised. More often than not, the TV seems to process the image as you’d expect to see 3D. It’s not something I’d want to do all the time, but I have to say, watching Moulin Rouge! [Blu-ray] with 2D-to-3D was actually pretty awesome. The built-in applications were kind of a mixed bag. Getting the TV on my WPA2 wireless network was pretty simple, and the Wii-inspired remote worked better than I had expected. The Netflix…

Summary – This is a good buy if you are looking for a LED Television with 3D and internet capability. Background – This television is mounted on the provided stand and placed on top of a media chest. The television sits above the seated viewers. Replaces a 5 year old 40″ Sony Bravida LCD panel. Connected to a HD TiVo and a Sony Blu Ray. Set-Up – Fast and easy. The manual is adequate, but not excellent. The “Pro” video set-up is a nice feature and gets the picture looking its best quickly. The HDMI cables come out of the back of the television at a right angle on the left side rear. Placement is not optimal since HDMI cables have a tendency to be stiff and sharp bends are not recommended. There is enough room to make the gentle bend and align the cables, but tie wraps are a must for more than one cable. Stand – Basic. Swivels right to left, but a tilt feature should have been included. See comments about 3D for explanation. A cable management slot on the stand would also have been nice to clean-up the cables for those who are not wall mounting. Picture – Sharp and clear. No motion artifacts. Superior to the Sony it replaces, but this was expected due to the technology improvements since the purchase of the Sony. Sound – Decent for ultra-thin panel televisions. If you are looking for audio quality, I recommend an external amplifier and speakers. For normal viewing, the sound is acceptable and voices are clear. 3D Blu ray – Comparable to my expensive active 3D television without the flicker and associated issues. Although the picture quality is not as high, I challenge most viewers to tell the difference. As stated in other reviews, there is some ghosting if the television tilt does not point the television straight at the viewer (A tilting stand would have been a nice feature for LG to add, but alas, it only swivels!). To the right and left of the television, there is no degradation of the 3D experience. 2D to 3D – This television does a superior job of converting 2D into 3D. It seems to excel when the film has depth of field and the less action, but the overall experience is very good. Based on my prior experience with my Active 3D television, I expected far less and found this to be a compelling 3D experience. Internet TV – Linked to Amazon.com quickly and easily. Netflix was also excellent. Some buffering issues left me wishing that the television stored more of he content locally as the video streamed. Web Browsing was less than adequate and I did not find it a useful experience, with the television not always responding to the commands of the remote. Apps are limited and it made me wonder why someone does not develop an Android based television or a iOS based television so that there could be more Aps to access. Remote – The standard remote is decent and well laid out, but unless you own LG components, you will have to have multiple remotes. A learning remote would have been a nice feature. Key back-light is dimmer than I would like. Magic Wand Remote – Think Wii controller for a television. Similar to other people, I had trouble with the response of the remote and found it worked best when I was sitting straight in front of the television. I felt that the software could use further optimization and I don’t see this currently as product differentiation and I would not buy this television for this capability alone. Recommendation – I would recommend this television and I am satisfied with the purchase.

NOTE: See UPDATE below. We’ve edited this review because all the initial concerns we had about this TV have been addressed and corrected with a few simple steps. So, feel free to skip down to the bottom to see what we did to make this TV look AMAZING! ———————————————————— I just learned a couple of things. First of all, I learned that bigger is not always better. We had purchased the 47″ version of this TV ([...]) and were absolutely blown away by the image quality… it is PRISTINE! (Easily a 5-star+ set.) In fact, we were so pleased with that unit that we thought we might want just a slightly larger TV instead. So, we ordered the 55″ model and planned on returning the 47″ one. Well, amazingly, we’re sending back the 55″ TV. The image is noticeably less pristine (grainy/pixelated/dull – even on the highest resolution blu-ray content… and even more surprisingly, the 3D was making us sick. (So strange, since we totally LOVED the 3D on the 47″ model.) Too bad… because we were really excited about the larger size… but we’d much rather have quality over quantity. Interestingly, it was my wife (who claims to not notice the “soap opera effect” of the new LCDs) who was most disturbed by the quality loss. It was glaringly obvious to her (as it was to me… though I didn’t want to admit it, since I really wanted the larger model). If my wife notices the difference, trust me… it’s there. I later did a side-by-side comparison between the 55LW5600 and the 47LW5600 which confirmed our suspicions. Here’s a little more detail: IMAGE QUALITY: On this 55″ model, image quality of even the highest resolution blu-ray discs was noticably less sharp, more pixelated/grainy, and overall just more dull. I played extensively with the settings but could not overcome these issues. Alternatively, images on the 47″ model and crisp and GORGEOUS. My hunch is that the resolution on both units is identical, but it is spread over a greater screen area on the larger unit, resulting in the ability to more easily see image flaws. I have not found specs to confirm this, though. We sit about 10-12 feet away from the TV, and we did notice a significant improvement in our perception of the image quality when moving back about 5 feet. But, the arrangement of our room does not allow us to sit this distance from the TV… so the 47″ is the obvious choice for us. I would say that you should not consider the 55″ version if you intend on sitting closer than 12 feet to the TV. Further out than that, you may have a better experience. 3D EFFECT: I also learned that 3D can (under certain circumstances) make us sick. Strange, because we’ve always enjoyed 3D in the theater… and we absolutely LOVED 3D on the 47″ version of this TV. But, on this 55″ model, there were some strange fluttering effects, especially in fast-motion video. We also noticed some kind of strange boxy/pixelated effect during quick scene changes, or when going from bright to dark (and vice versa) scenes. None of these 3D issues occurred with the 47″ version. In fact, not only was the image impeccable, but the 3D looked absolutely gorgeous (and appeared to be fully HD quality with no noticeable resolution loss). So, if you’re debating (like we did) about whether to go with LG’s 47″ version (47LW5600), or to go a little larger with the 55″ model… I’d suggest sticking with the 47″ TV unless you will be sitting a fairly significant distance away from the set. So, what else did I learn? It turns out my wife’s a videophile! Who knew?!? ———————————————————— UPDATE – ISSUES FIXED: We have found ways to make adjustments that have COMPLETELY ELIMINATED the issues we spoke of earlier!! So we have now changed our star rating from 2 to 5. (Yeah, it’s that much of an improvement!) 2D IMAGE FIX: Just wanted to let everyone know that I was able to improve the 2D video quality of this 55″ model SIGNIFICANTLY by using the settings given on hometheater.com [hometheater+dot+com]. (Just search for “LG 55LW5600 3D LCD HDTV”.) Blu-rays now look extremely good… and MUCH better than the default settings. 3D IMAGE FIX: Additionally, we found a setting on the TV that allows you to adjust the 3D image in such a way that it positions the image further back into the screen (essentially virtually giving us the additional 3 feet back we felt we needed to eliminate eye-strain and nausea). To access, simply click the quick menu button *while 3D content is onscreen*. Then, select the top option to adjust the 3D settings. From there, the bottom option allows you to send the 3D image further back (to the left)… |

Awesome TV but you’ll want a sound system,

After researching Bravia TVs, I decided to go ahead with this one since it is one of the newer releases for 2011. I’m glad I waited, as this TV is clearer and more vivid than those of some older models or rival brands. Picture quality is clear with no fog or motion blur. PS3 games and Netflix look absolutely amazing. The only thing this TV needs now is a sound system to broaden the audio experience. If you’re having sound issues, try messing around with the ‘steady sound’ and ‘clear voice’ options to even things out and make them less muddy. In stores you may see this TV’s picture slightly less bright than others, but that is because of the built in light sensor that’s located on the front of the frame. The picture automatically adjusts to best fit it’s surroundings, and that’s what’s truly great. No fussing with brightness settings all the time. Overall, worth every penny. Stick with Sony and you won’t be disappointed.

The SONY KBL32BX450 with high definition 1080p is an entry level model with outstanding picture quality. This is a highly recommended HDTV for you. I had researched purchasing HDTV for the bedroom and the SONY is better than the rest (LG, SAMSUNG, PANASONIC and budget models). You pay more for the SONY but you getting a SONY. It is worth the difference. Do not compromise. This is a new 2011 model with basic features. There is no Wifi, this is 60Hz and is not an LED TV (however picture quality compares to LED sets). There are only two HDMI ports that may not be enough for some people. The only “complaint” is the sound quality. You will need to adjust the bass/treble and use the equalizer in Custom Mode. It is the same issue that flat screen sets just don’t have great speakers. Regardless, this is an excellent television. There are enough settings with options to calibrate and customize the picture to your liking. It is best to disable the ambient light sensor that restricts the brightness and vivid contrast of the picture. Once calibrated, the picture is awesome. The fleshtones are realistic. There is abundant contrast with the blacks are coal black and whites are bright white. The colors are vivid and vibrant. The set will require picture adjustment and calibration out of the box. Motion blur is almost non-existant for a 60Hz set. The features and specs of this set are well documented. You have a USB port to view pictures and videos. If you are very budget conscience then consider the SONY 720p model KDL32BX320. This is also a great set but you don’t pay for the Full HD. If you won’t do gaming or watch BluRay then this may be for you. If you are looking to install in your living room then look for a SONY with a larger screen. I purchased this from a store with special grand opening sale but wanted to post review for Amazon folks. I would typically buy from Amazon.

This Sony LCD is one of the best deals anyone is going to get. Like the other guy mentioned, I purchased mine directly from WalMart for 8! The image quality is outstanding. I have made a few tweaks like lowering the brightness, to help achieve deeper blacks. I will use a image calibrator later. The screen does have a slight glow at the top corners, but that is only visible during extremely rare black-out scenes. I noticed it while loading Blu-Rays, but once the movie starts the screen is very vibrant! The sound quality is not all that refined. I don’t have money for an Audio system or receiver so I will just have to fiddle with the settings like bass and treble till I find the optimum tune. There are plenty of A/V connections, a plethora of options in the menue to fool around with, and a great remote. I have a PlayStation 3 hooked up by HDMI cable. That allows the system remotes to control devices, very cool! Go buy one!!! |

It has a nice case and handle, easy to move around. I like the features of the echo, he SINGS mostly Abba songs and sounds great echo. He was 16 and it combines the best of his beautiful voice. And ligths are a great feature. I would buy her gifts that she can enjoy every day, and training for school talent shows.
But it also has some problems. First, the plug that goes into the back of the unit is too loose, so if you pick it while it’s plugged in, the plug will fall out. There is a cheap plastic door pull to open to insert the CD that I think was the first thing to rest. Also, it’s not as much volume as I expected. I’m sure his mother is happy that he is no longer vibrating the whole house, but if he uses it to entertain others, the volume does not carry now. All these issues we can work around. For the price is not bad. But there is another problem that brought my rating down to 3 stars. He was singing to me, and kept making the CD an echoing beat, which really takes away from the music. Then it started getting rid and makes the thumping, vibrating noise. I found that if you expect the unit back at an angle will not get leave, but it still makes the thumping. And this trend again, it leans against the cord that fits loose and needs to be configured every time you touch it. He is happy here and loves to sing along to his CD. But if I had tried out in a store and saw the problems here, especially the noise it makes during the song, I can not buy it. 47 of 47 people found the following review helpful:

It works with all the greats singing and playing it all day. The disc that comes here is a little cheesy but that we will buy more of the newer songs & able to see the words on TV really helps out. Lots of fun for the money.

Who wants to spend 0 for a tuner with HDMI when the TV is 0? I liked the idea of the light weight and possibly led backlight life. I’m impressed with the tuner and the picture but the audio is a throwback to the tinny speaker of the old. No bass or midrange. I think it may even be the mono? (Gasp!). Fortunately I have a Home theater receiver with room to disaster averted. If you have a home theater even a good PC speaker system with a sub is now stuck. Overall satisfied to get a name brand with warranty years and led backlighting for the price.

I’m so very happy with this TV … There are no reviews written for this product before when I was planning to buy it … but then some R & D and finally decided to buy it … I received an amazing deal at Amazon … The nice standard lead with excellent picture quality. .. really loved it.

Luckily Amazon has one for my price range. It’s really hard to find a TV to watch for that price.The TV looks good, But the audio is lacking. It does not sound like bass, but most people have home theaters now days. And if any you can also just hook up some external speakers.I enjoyed it today, but I’m happy here. TV also has an internal tuner so I can get all the free local channel.At the end of the day its almost impossible to find a 32 inch lead for less then 0.
